This past Sunday I taught a photography workshop in Pasadena, CA. The theme of the workshop was putting together and shooting a conceptual photo-shoot. The concept for the workshop was 1960's, somewhat inspired by the show Mad Men. Here are some of the photos I shot.

Election Day 2008
Well what can I say, sometimes I'm a little slow getting projects finished. On Election Day 2008, I went around Pasadena (a voting poll, the local democratic headquarters, and the local republican headquarters), and had people write their thoughts on piece of paper. they then held up the paper and I took there photo. After nearly 2 years I finally finished and posted the series. You can see the series here:

Old Cameras
My girlfriend and I recently took a trip back to the east coast to visit family and friends. In 2 weeks we hit Pennsylvania, Virginia, Maryland, and Washington DC. While in PA we stopped by a hole in the wall antique store in McAlevy’s Fort. This is what it looked like when I walked in the door:
I ended up buying the Kodak duaflex III in the top left corner of the above pic for $10. I also ended up buying an 8mm Bolex home movie camera, in perfect condition, for $50. The camera is a beautiful thing to look at, just an amazingly well crafted piece of art. It's too bad digital cameras don't have the craftsmanship aesthetic that old cameras often do. You can see more photos I took of items in the antique store here:

Amongst all the clutter and chaos the guy had probably 40 - 50 photo cameras and 8mm home movie cameras. Here are a few:
